Profile : The Federation of Industries & Commerce of North Eastern Region was formed in 1992 for the creation and sustenance of an environment conductive to the growth of the industry, trade and commerce in the north-eastern states of India. FINER is a non-government, non-profit making, industry led and managed organization playing a pro-active role in the economic development process of the region. FINER has a membership of over 200 firms and is the leading apex chamber of commerce, industry and trade of the region. As you are aware the Finance (Taxation) Department, Government of Assam has enacted the Assam Entry Tax Act 2008, which has come into effect from 1st June 2008, whereby a levy on tax on entry of goods into local area for the purpose of providing infrastructure and amenities to facilitate trade and commerce within the state of Assam.
