Profile :
The
Federation of Industries & Commerce of North Eastern Region was
formed in 1992 for the creation and sustenance of an environment
conductive to the growth of the industry, trade and commerce in the
north-eastern states of India. FINER is a non-government, non-profit
making, industry led and managed organization playing a pro-active
role in the economic development process of the region. FINER has a
membership of over 200 firms and is the leading apex chamber of
commerce, industry and trade of the region. The membership range from
the tiny sector to the mega-size industries and includes both private
and public sectors. It includes several industry/sectoral associations
and state/district level associations.

Member,
At the very outset, please accept my New
Year Greetings. The Year 2006 had been quite significant for us. We were
able to put forward the proposal of a "Single Economic Region" in
context of the North Eastern States. This was also widely discussed in
the 13th AGM of our Federation. Dr. Atul Sarma, Ex-Vice Chancellor of
Arunachal University was the key person on the occasion. The creation of
such a region would be a win-win situation for all the eight states if
their individual strengths and potential in trade and commerce could be
clubbed together and marketed from a single economic banner. We at FINER
feel that creation of Single Economic Region (SER) consisting of eight
Northeast states makes immense sense and the proposal needs to be looked
into by respective states, DoNER ministry and Central Government. FINER
shall work hard to provide requisite inputs to concretize this concept
